What does sEMG stand for?

sEMG stands for Surface Electromyography. It is a diagnostic tool that measures the amount of electrical activity of the muscles, specifically when the muscles are contracting. sEMG uses computer techonology to measure this electrical activity, and is quite similar in function to the EKG, which measures the muscular activity of the heart.

Is it painful?

No! MyoVision is a totally non-invasive and does not cause pain or irritation. It simply requires the placement of small probes against the skin, with the test taking less than a few minutes.

How does this relate to your health?

Like an EKG demonstrates the health of the heart, the sEMG can provide Dr. Byers with important information abou the help of your spinal column. Specifically, the scans can help Dr. Byers determine the course of your care, as well your response to the care. Consecutive scans can also effectively track your progress over time.
